Sandollar Farms Alpacas & Pyrs offers regular seminars to introduce the alpaca and its fiber industry to people who are interested in one or the other or both. Our next workshop is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023, the weekend before shearing!
Gates open at 8:30am for hospitality and the workshop begins promptly at 9am. The price includes continental breakfast, snacks, lunch and handout materials for two adults from the same farm. Children aged 12 and older may attend with their parents.
-- Session #1 - Alpacas are a fiber producing animal! The morning session introduces the alpaca history, fleece and conformation characteristics, what we do with the fiber, why we raise alpacas, why you might want to have alpacas, and the industry outlook today.
-- Session #2 - The afternoon session introduces caring for your new alpacas. The basics of husbandry and handling and are covered. Nikki is a Senior Consultant for the Camelidynamics program and loves sharing her knowledge of behavior and husbandry.
Nikki is a Camelidynamics Practitioner as well as an Apprentice Sorter/Grader in the SGC Program and loves discussing alpacas, their care and handling and their fiber attributes. Reservations are required, and space is limited. Sign up today!
